The majority of the Finns are Christians

The largest religious community is the Evangelical Lutheran (Suomen evankelis-luterilainen kirkko) Church of Finland, which is part approximately 78% of the population. The Orthodox Church of Finland is the second largest religious community in the country. Just over 1% of the population belongs to it. The Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Orthodox Church enjoyed a special status in Finland. For example, have the right to levy taxes.

In Finland live tens of thousands of Muslims. However, only part of them belong to Islamic communities.

Other religious communities in Finland are, for example, Jehovah's Witnesses, the Free Church of Finland (Suomen Vapaakirkko), the Catholic Church of Finland and the Adventist Church in Finland.

Lutherrose
The Symbol that resume their Christian faith is the " Shield or Rosa Luther " ( lutherrose ) and its colors have a special meaning:

1. The black cross , which is lethal and painfully leaves the heart in its natural red color because it does not kill , but instead it retains the Christian life because of the faith.

2. Although the cross shows us death and human suffering , red heart teaches us that this reality has been overcome by the Passion and Resurrection of Christ.

3. White color expresses joy, comfort and peace that is caused by the faith.

4. The sky blue shows us the joy of living in faith

5. The golden color of the ring symbolizes that faith is the most precious gift that we can have and that we have to take care all our lives.
