Folk Music in Finland
In Finland you could find a great tradition of folk music. Over the time, Finland started to make a lot of concerts and festivals with famous artists and groups that are organized throughout the country, especially in the summer.
The traditional instrument is sing, that is the national instrument par excellence. However, there are others instruments like accordion, violin and harmonium. The most important festivals of folk music in Finland are:
1. Kaustinen Folk Music Festival
This festival is celebrated yearly in July in Kaustinen, Finland, and it's consider as one of the biggest folk music and dance festival in the Nordic countries.
The history of the Kaustinen folk music Festival began in 1968 with the first Kaustinen Festival and history tells that the number of the expected visitors was over three times the estimate.
Nowadays, the whole festival has around 100,000 people and 3,000 performers from Finland and other countries every year. That is the reason why it has become so important in this country, because of the cultural variety.




2. Provinssirock (rock-pop)
Probably the most famous rock festival in Finland, with mostly young audience held in Seinäjoki, usually mixed with local foreign artists.
Among the groups who have visited are artists like David Bowie. You can choose to camp throughout the festival or day ticket purchase.
3. Tuska Festival (heavy)
Finland is not understood without heavy metal. The clearest example is the Tuska Festival. Famous bands come year after year to Suvilahti.
4. Fances (etnico,hippie)
Faces is the most famous hippie festival in Finland
Groups around the world, reggae and countless other activities such as workshops, circus, etc. If you like the quiet roll, meet people and sit with guitars to enjoy the cool in summer, Faces is a very interesting option.
